Rimkus Building Consultants                                                                                                     2021 – 2022

Structural forensic investigation and code evaluations of existing buildings. Determination of the extent and required repairs and upgrades required by the governing codes and building officials.

Black Dog Holdings LLC., Williston, VT                                                                             1997 – Present

Partner and co-Founder in Property Management Company. We develop, design, permit &
construct high-end residential, condominium and small office projects. We self-performed a large portion of the work, employing our own crews for framing and fit-up. Subcontracted were site work, foundation, HVAC, plumbing and electrical. Responsibilities included production of construction documents, estimating, building permits, scheduling and all facets of construction management.

Cumberland Group Inc., Williston, VT                                                                                     2013 – 2017

I provided management and engineering consulting services to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) CIS providing operational support and leadership to project development, preconstruction, and general construction delivery. Consulting contracts primarily focused on engineering services required to upgrade critical facilities nationwide. I provided program/project management, concept/design optimization, and supply chain procurement services for capital projects and security physical security upgrades.

Alpine Design & Engineering, Inc., Williston, VT & Washington, DC                          1990 – 2011 Principal and Co-Founder

Focus of the firm was providing manufacturing facility design, civil/ structural engineering
services for commercial, government and residential clients. Project categories ranged from office structures and industrial facilities to ski resorts, hotel, multi-family/assisted living complexes, hospitals and schools.

A secondary focus was facility consulting services including engineering feasibility studies,
evaluation and coordination of space needs, master planning, project site evaluation, project coordination, compliance review, permit preparation and construction inspection services. I was recruited to provide consulting services as Lead Project Manager and later Program Manager for Department of Homeland Security (DHS) US-VISIT program initiatives throughout the US, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico & Ireland. These projects focused on Border Security, Immigration and Physical Security related construction projects to address vulnerabilities and program implementation requirements. I was responsible for project outcomes, both technical and financial, from initial planning to engineering through execution and commissioning.

Civil Engineering Associates, Shelburne, VT                                                                      1988 –1990 Project Engineer

Civil/Structural Engineering Firm. As engineer of record, I was independently responsible for civil & structural engineering of various projects. Representative projects ranged from site planning for small residential developments to the foundation design for a three story below grade parking garage and the structural design for a six-story office complex, schools and hotels. Left to start own firm.

Lawler, Matusky & Skelly, Pearl River, NY                                                                             1987 – 1988 Project Engineer

ENR Top 200 Environmental Engineering Firm. Structural engineering services for various New York metro area projects including a six-story steel frame cogeneration plant and gasifier with an 80-foot pile foundation and concrete processing & holding tanks for the Hoboken Sewage Plant. Later, I was responsible for cleanup of a PCB contaminated site for a major plastics manufacturer in Newark NJ. I left LMS to move to Vermont.

ENR Top 50 International Engineering Firm focused on power generation design process piping and related elements on a variety of power generation projects. Left firm to diversify experience.
